While I was doubting to open an online shop and whether should it be Etsy, it’s finally alive now. As this is such the beginning, even with the slow steps I need to pave the path. Please find the link here.
My first decision was Fine Art America as it can offer you for 30$ per year unlimited treasure to include in your shop. Of course, it can be free but for this small price it’s quite more reasonable to choose Premium account. Unfortunately, I’m pretty low with money so I will still have to wait for that chance. Certainly, it’s possible to have various sources as your online shop and I can choose to have simultaneously many websites like Etsy or Fine Art America. It’s such a fulfilling feeling to start a challenging project like this.
What would I offer
Printables can come in the variety of forms whether digital prints, wall decors, posters, postcards or anything else.
With the possibility to integrate Etsy with Printful (printing company that does all the shipping for you) my products can be even more diverse. This means that I can even sell t-shirts, postcards, mugs, pillows, bags and similar stuff.
The most important is to start so I can figure out even better how can I transform my photography and products.
Differences between Etsy and other modes to sell photography
Fine Art America as I already mentioned above offers the free options and a premium account. With the premium account you have endless possibilites to add new products plus not only photo prints but t-shirts, mugs and other stuff.
Etsy charges you only 0,20$ for the listing you make as the photos are sorted as listings. In one listing you can have different versions of place (10 maximum), in my case I do landscape photography. Sounds a perfect place to boost your photography efforts regarding business as you’re encircled by the community. Transaction fee is another additional cost taking 3,5%.
The negative aspects of Etsy, Fine Art America and similar platforms is-you guess- competition as the bunch of photographers can pull away possible clients from your proper work.
That’s why it’s advisable to create shop that belongs only to you linking it with your website. But that’s not so budget friendly when starting but the main advantage is that you can keep 100% of the profite. One of the best platform is Shopify which basic cost starts from 29$ a month. You can easily link it with various printing companies or do the printing process yourself.
I’m very happy to start this photography journey, I would appreciate your opinions and shares.
