Queen’s Beach, Nin, Croatia- contributed by myself
Located in the charming town of Nin near Zadar, Queen’s Beach is a heavenly treasure for families.
What makes Queen’s Beach so unique is its shallow waters that extend far into the sea. Allowing kids to splash and swim without sudden drops is perfect for playing safely and freely. It’s a natural playground, including a long sandy stretch.
Just next to the beach, you’ll find natural healing mud. Adding a fun and wellness twist to your beach day, Nin will create an unforgettable vacation.
Beyond the beach, Nin itself is a small but beautiful historical town. Known for its peaceful charm, you’ll have a wonderful retreat after Zadar. Nin is also home to the Nin Saltworks, where traditional salt production continues to this day. Making it a lovely spot to explore after relaxing at the sea, you can also visit a Salt Museum.
For a cozy stay, choose Villa Dalibor.

Solaris Beach, Šibenik, Croatia- contributed by Cosette from KarsTravels
Solaris Beach is one of the beautiful beaches in the marvelous town of Šibenik, located between Zadar and Split.
Solaris has in total 4 kilometers of beaches. Most of it is pebble beaches. There are several swimming pools on the beaches, where kids can play without going in the sea. There are regular playgrounds and aqua playgrounds in the sea. If this wasn’t enough, there’s a pirate ship and an aquaparc of over 8000 square meters. Making sure a family can have fun here for days on end.
From both Split and Zadar, it’s a 45-minute drive to Šibenik on the A1. Then another 4 kilometers to Solaris beach. If coming by public transport, then take line 5 from Šibenik to Solaris.

Pokojni Dol, Hvar island, Croatia- contributed by Zi from Croatia Finds
Pokonji Dol Beach is one of the best family beaches in Europe if you want clear water and an easy beach day on your Hvar Itinerary.
Pokonji Dol sits just outside Hvar Town, so it feels convenient without being too busy. The sea is usually calm, which makes it better for kids. There is plenty of space for swimming, sunbathing, and slow, lazy beach time.
Families can rent sunbeds, swim in the shallow areas, and stop for lunch at the beach restaurant. Older kids can snorkel around the rocks. Bring water shoes because the beach is pebbly, like many Croatian beaches.
Getting there is simple. You can walk from Hvar Town in about 20 to 25 minutes. You can also take a taxi boat in summer or drive and park nearby.
For a great stay, book Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort. It has family-friendly facilities and easy access to town.

Mogren Beach, Budva, Montenegro- contributed by Natalie Barrett from Travel More With Nat
Mogren Beach is one of Budva’s best family-friendly spots, thanks to its calm setting and turquoise waters.
It sits just west of Budva’s historic Old Town in Montenegro, making it easy and safe to reach on foot. Families love its sheltered cove, gentle swim areas, fun activities and pretty views.
Children can paddle near the shore, while adults relax on sunbeds nearby. When you’re ready to stretch your legs, the short cliffside walk along the beach is part of the fun too. Along this path, you’ll find various restaurants and shops, selling everything from inflatables to ice cream.
To find Mogren Beach from the Old Town, follow the signed path, past the beautiful Budva Ballerina statue. Or hike down the woodland path from the main road.
For a comfortable stay within easy reach of Budva’s best beaches, book Avala Resort and Villas. It’s located directly on Mogren Beach, and offers sound-proof family suites, accessible rooms and free parking.

Lama Monochile Beach, Polignano a Mare, Italy- contributed by Emma Caldwell from Emma Jane Explores
Lama Monochile is in the town of Polignano a Mare in Italy’s Puglia region. This beach might look straight out of a postcard, but yes, you can (and should) visit it with kids. It is a narrow pebble beach with crystal clear water, and cliff views that wow everyone instantly. It also is totally free to access, so go early for calmer vibes and more space to play.
The Polignano a Mare old town is located right at the entrance to the beach, so pizza and gelato stops really make this a fabulous family day out.
Stay at the San Michele Suites for a beautiful stay with water or village views or visit on a day trip from another Puglian town. Polignano a Mare is serviced by a central train station which connects to major towns like Monopoli, Bari and Lecce, making day trips to the beach easy for families.

La Pelosa Beach, Sardinia, Italy- contributed by Claudia Tavani from Strictly Sardinia
La Pelosa is located near the small town of Stintino in northwestern Sardinia. This is easily one of the best family beaches in Europe. The water is incredibly shallow and calm, making it perfect for children to swim and play safely. The sand is soft and very fine, ideal for building sandcastles. The colors here almost look unreal, with turquoise water and views of the old Aragonese watchtower – which can be reached on foot.
Families can easily spend the whole day at the beach, but there are other activities nearby too. One of the best experiences is taking a boat tour to the nearby Asinara Island, a protected national park known for its wild landscapes and famous white donkeys.
La Pelosa is a protected beach and access is capped to no more than 1500 daily visitors. Visits must be booked 72 hours in advance on the official website of La Pelosa Beach.
The easiest way to get to La Pelosa is by car from Alghero, which is about a 50-minute drive away.
For accommodation, I recommend Park Hotel Asinara. It’s family-friendly, comfortable, and in a convenient location in Stintino. for exploring the area.

Palavas-les-Flots, France- contributed by Latifah from Gimme Confetti
Palavas-les-Flots is a seaside town in France (just south of Montpellier). If you’re in town, you can enjoy a beach day after exploring the best things to do in Montpellier.
To get there: from Montpellier take Tram 3 stop “Étang de l’Or” then Bus 131 straight to Palavas-les-Flots. It’s only a 30-40-minute journey from the city and the seaside town is gorgeous!
There are so many fun games and activities for kids, making it a fabulous family beach destination. Don’t miss the beach playgrounds with slides and swings. As well as the mini‑golf near the marina and the little tourist train that kids love riding around town. If you visit in the summer, there’s also a funfair with rides and games.
The water is shallow and calm, making it easy for toddlers and kids. Not to mention soft sand and a ton of playing space. In the summer you will find lifeguarded zones (safety is key). You can also buy ice cream and snacks close to the beach stands. My favorite is Amorino’s sorbets a bit further up the main street.
The Hôtel Plage Palace & Spa is a luxury hotel between Palavas-les-Flots and Carnon Beach. They offer beautiful family rooms with a sea view that your family will love.

Ramla Bay, Malta- contributed by Juan from Planet of Adventures
One of my favourite places to visit in Malta was the picturesque Ramla Bay on the Island of Gozo.
This beach is great for families as it combines beautiful reddish sand, pleasantly quiet waters which are safer for the little ones, stunning landscapes and wonderful mythological references.
Near the beach you can visit Calypso’s Cave where the Nymph Calypso held Odysseus in Homer’s Odyssey. The cave is sometimes closed to the public for safety but overlooking the Bay you can visit the Mixta Cave which offers the best views of Ramla Bay.
A perfect place to stay is the Quaint Boutique Hotel Nadur which is halfway between the ferry terminal and Ramla Bay, and also very close to Mekren’s Bakery which I highly recommend you to visit and try the traditional Ftiras which are an incredible meal idea for the entire family!

Lozenets, Bulgaria- contributed by Maria from Map and Camera
Lozenets is a small, relaxed village on Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast. It sits 60 km south of Burgas, inside Strandzha Nature Park. The beach is long, sandy, and lifeguarded. The water is famously clean and calm. Families love it for exactly that reason.
Kids can take surf lessons at the north end of the beach. Paddleboarding and beach volleyball keep everyone busy. In the village center, there’s a playground and fairground rides for younger children. Boat trips down the nearby Ropotamo River are a real highlight for children. The surrounding park has easy hiking trails too.
Fresh seafood restaurants line the beachfront. The whole village is walkable.
Fly into Burgas Airport (BOJ). From there, it’s about an hour by car, bus or taxi. Renting a car is recommended for exploring the area.
Stay at Sunrise All Suites Resort. It offers spacious rooms, a wellness center, and easy beach access make it ideal for families.

Praia do Barril, Portugal- contributed by Marga of Discover Portugal
The Algarve region is one of the most family-friendly regions in Portugal. It’s known for its stunning beaches, but some are extra unique and much loved by kids. Discover Praia do Barril near Tavira!
You can reach it after a 20-minute walk or by taking a mini train. How cool is that? Kids love it, of course, and even when you arrive, a surprise awaits you, as there is a real actor cemetery left by fishermen. There are over 100 of them!
The beach itself is huge, and there are great facilities. There is a lifeguard, and you can join some water sports activities, as well as a restaurant and bathrooms. You can also enjoy other beaches on the island, such as Praia do Homem Nu.
Praia do Barril is part of a nature park, and there are no hotels on the island. Many families stay at the Pedras D’el Rei Resort or book accommodation in Tavira.

Fintra Beach near Killybeng in Donegal, Ireland- contributed by Faith of XYUandBEYOND
Fintra Beach, near Killybegs in Donegal, is a hidden gem perfect for families seeking a safe and scenic day out. Its main draw is the gentle, shallow shoreline, where the Atlantic laps softly onto golden sand, creating ideal conditions for young children to paddle and play without the risk of strong currents.
The beach is sheltered by rolling dunes, offering a natural windbreak on breezy days. Clean, blue waters invite older kids for a proper swim, while the vast expanse of sand is perfect for building castles or flying kites.
Parking is free and close by, and the lack of shops and amenities means ample space to spread out. With stunning views of Donegal Bay and the surrounding mountains, parents can relax knowing it’s both beautiful and wonderfully safe.
For a great family oriented place to stay check out the Tara Hotel in Killybegs. There is a swimming pool for the kids and it’s a short walk to everything Killybegs has to offer.

Woolacombe Beach, UK- contributed by Paulina from the UK Every Day
Woolacombe Beach is North Devon’s crown jewel for families seeking a cool, laid-back vibe. This three-mile stretch of golden sand feels endless. It is famous for Atlantic rollers that are perfect for beginner surfers. You will often see kids catching their first waves here.
The coastline here is rugged and incredibly beautiful. When the tide retreats, you can uncover many things to do in Woolacombe around the crystal-clear rock pools. Lifeguards keep the water safe all summer. This allows parents to truly relax while children play in the surf.
Getting here from London is straightforward. The drive takes about four hours via the M4 and M5 motorways.
For an amazing stay, check into The Watersmeet Hotel. It is perched right on the cliff edge. The hotel features a private path leading straight to the beach. Ending your day with a heated pool session and a sunset view is unbeatable.
