These museums are among the most impressive in the country. These seven museums are great for solo travellers and will keep you interested.
- Quai Branly
The Ethnography museum houses an impressive collection of artefacts from all over the globe. The building is an impressive work of art that houses over 150,000 pieces from different continents. It is worth visiting just for the architecture.
Jean Nouvel designed the quai branly Museum of Ancient Art. It is home to some of the most stunning artefacts in history. The museum houses more than 30,000 works of art from all over Europe and the world, some dating back to ancient Greece. It is often compared to the Louvre, but there are fewer tourists. This allows you to appreciate each piece without having a fight with crowds.

This museum is a must-see for every traveller. This museum has all you need to see if you are interested in historical artefacts. You will find it hard not to get overwhelmed by the amount of ground you cover. It is one of the most visited museums in the country. It’s so large that you can spend days exploring it.
This is a stunning display of over 35,000 paintings, more than any other location in the world. Anyone and everyone should take a crash course on Western Civilization and Art. This museum is home to some of the most important impressionist art in the world. You will also find important pieces by Van Gogh and Monet. It could take several days to see this museum fully, so make sure you have good walking shoes.
- Centre Pompidou
This is the place to go if you ever want to see inside a building. It is a museum that exhibits modern art. But it is also known for its architecture. It was built by Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano and opened in 1971 as an arts centre with cultural exhibitions. It is the only Paris building to display modern art outside.
The first museum in the country was entirely dedicated to contemporary and modern art. This museum is an artwork in and of itself. It was designed and opened by Ieoh Ming Pei in 1981. The museum houses important pieces from Europe, Asia and Africa that were created during the 20th Century.
- Musee D’Orsay
Musee D’Orsay is located in an old train station. It houses some of the most important works by impressionist artists such as Renoir, Manet and Degas. Musee d’Orsay houses over 200 paintings by these painters and others who were active during that period. After a walk around the beautiful gardens, make sure you visit the national museum of fine & applied arts. It has been housing art pieces since 1793. - Musée Yves Saint-Laurent
The museum Musee Yves Saint-Laurent is dedicated to the late fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. It houses a large collection of his work and is also housed in his former residence. L’agence d’architectureinterieur et d’urbanisme designed the house.
His glamorous living area and original furnishings will be a delight to visitors. This museum is a great reason to visit Paris, as Yves Saint Laurent is one of the most renowned fashion designers of all time. The museum features the body of work of the couturier, including his paintings, fashions and memorabilia. It is limited to 300 visitors per day, so you will need to reserve your ticket ahead of time. You can visit both the couture house and the museum one day.
- Château de Versailles
The Palace of Versailles, also known as the Palace of Versailles, is a famous monumental complex that was built mostly between the 17th and 18th centuries. It is located on Paris’s outskirts. Although the origins of Versailles’ 11th-century name are not known, it could be the Latin word versatum (turned to earth), which refers to a cultivated estate surrounded by forests and marshes.
There are many ticket options for Versailles Palace. The most sought-after Palace of Versailles ticket is 22.50 Euros. It gives you access to all areas of the Versailles Estate. However, it is only available from Tuesday through Friday.
