This ancient practice can be so soothing for the body, mind and the spirit. It’s not only about the focus, it’s the divine focus. Like the masagge, meditation can bring you inner and outside balance. Interwined with my personal experiences, follow the post to learn how to practice meditation even when you are disturbed with the noise and the small places. What are the benefits:
Peace
How can I know that what I do in the meditation is fruitful throughout my daily life? It’s the God behind the scenes, but God doesn’t come alone. Yoga is the union with God that has to be invited as nobody will help you if you will not yourself. God is the ultimate point, the invisible force that is holding the strings. Peace come as the result of the Union, of the trust we offer to God. It’s the inner way of life without any argue, it’s what we accept to let go, what we accept to grow.
Mental bliss
Meditation is surrendering to Divine, that’s why kiirtan is a powerful tool that is helping meditation. I’ve practising Ananda Marga Meditation that uses mantra Baba Nam Kevalam which can be tuned in numerous ways and has very simple prononciation and meaning- Love is the essence of all things. Literally, only the name of the Supreme.
People ask me questions like- doesn’t thoughts disturbe you to do meditation but you cannot push the thoughts. They come and go, if you focus on the Supreme the divine bliss comes alone. Thoughts run away, it’s the Divine that takes their place. Mantra is guiding your thoughts as sometimes you need peace even from your thoughts.
Concentration
With the process described above where mantra plays the main role, concentration steps in.
As I’m stepping through all the chakras by my mind, I don’t only feel mental relief but physical. My body immediately gets into another level as if I’ve done a deep relaxation. My spirit goes wider enlightened with more power to reach the goals, to feel more concentrated and be One with your own self.
Overcoming stress
Focusing on Supreme enters the way to being more relaxed and the stress decreases. Constantly worrying as the the trail of life and people puts you up and down bursts the stress and we have to calm it down. Meditation is the way.
Emotional balance
While we cannot always swipe away the sadness or angriness, meditation can help you coping with it. Meditation is the loving source of existence so it’s important to make your emotions the the king.
Creativity
Meditation opens up new doors as the fusion with the Divine empowers with the new levels of existence, with the colours seen beyond the curtain. It’s not the talent that we’re born with but the practice.
How to cope with obstacles of meditation while travelling
Sometimes meditation can serve like the charming way to visit the places. Now many seminars or retreats based on meditation are commercially oriented but following your own way you will be enchanted by the places you wouldn’t visit elsewhere. Collective meditation is such an empowering experience, specially settled in the tranquille areas.
If you travel on a budget and staying in hostels, it’s not always comfortable to do yoga and meditation. But personal development is stepping out of your comfort zone. Choosing a dorm room which has a better concept including the better intimacy like curtains or bed boxes is so fantastic.
The floor is not always a great choice because of its coldness specially for the asanas, even in India. But common areas can sometimes be designed so perfectly to do your daily practise in the most pleasant way. Some hidden corners like roofs can be so helpful and many traveller are actually utilising this opportunity. If you carry yoga mat, travelling with backpack can be a better solution here than with carry-on though I like better carry-on because of its easiness.
Meditation is also about carpe diem, that’s why catching the perfect place in nature can be a calming and inspiring solution.
If you’re disturbed with the noise and people talking around you even if it’s on the beach or nature very helpful is to put airphones to listen meditation music while practising it. Even on the beach it’s not always easy to find a serene place in the solitude.
While I was in Ubud, Bali which bursts with yoga offers it was so inspiring to see one american girl in the hostel waking up at 6h and doing meditation near the pool. Definitely check these awesome yoga retreats at Bali. You’re not alone trying to embrace the beautiness of life, to discover your true self. Meditation is for everyone.
All in all
Don’t be afraid to stand on the journey of self-discovery as meditation is the language of positivity and oneness. Travelling can improve your horizons but meditation can make yourself your own. Together they can create the magic link that will guide you to your roots and finding how to utilise the life to maximum. If you’re thinking meditation is not your kind of thing, meditation will take you itself where the first and last word starts- Love.
