The unparalleled charm of Lisbon lies in its cheerfulness and artsy Portuguese spirit with an incredible southern soul. Catching this charm feels the cozies at the wonderful viewpoints that the city offers.
Except for admiring the view, enjoying the street music or elegant art makes people search the best views. There’s something so smooth and relaxing upon them even if it takes more effort to reach them.
Lisbon is a city with treasures to discover from its history to food and artistic shine. Similar to Lisbon, Porto brings the best of the city in its viewpoints and sunsets. Both being so hilly attract numerous visitors to enjoy the simplicity of life and readiness to embrace the art.
Lisbon’s hilliness didn’t attract me on the first-hand searching the roofs and river views, but it unveils the city’s spirit.
„Miradouro“ is a word for the viewpoint in Portuguese and every brings a taste of Lisbon in small.
Let’s make a journey to Lisbon and see its beauty from the different perspectives, even the hiking one.
Beyond Lisbon, enjoy the best day trips in the fairy Sintra or royal Cascais.

Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara
Perching above Lisbon’s famous train station lies this picturesque garden made in two levels. Though many stairs make it slightly exhausting to visit, you’ll be rewarded with the best atmosphere in the city.
Admiring the panoramic views is unparalleled here and I would say it’s the best miradouro to choose.
You’ll see Sao Jorge Castle in all its beauty while the „San Francisco Bridge“ elegantly completes the image. With the views over Alfama, you can explore more precisely the azulejo map of Lisbon.

You don’t have to go by foot
In the charming garden enjoying your fresh drink after a lot of stairs will prepare you to discover Lisbon further. The elegant sculptures will enrich your relaxing vibes and possibly prolong your enjoyment. Not because of the sculptures, but street music and its largeness makes this miradouro so relaxing.
Going all the way up is not required as the Gloria funicular will do this marvelous task. Resembling the famous tram, it’s your opportunity to capture the perfect Lisbon picture.
In the night Miradouro de Sao Pedro will allure you with fantastic images of Lisbon. Becoming alive in the party shine, you’ll have a few more reasons to visit it in the night.
Miradouro de Santa Luzia
Miradouro de Santa Luzia is the most beautiful viewpoint thanks to the gorgeous Portuguese tiles on this terrace. In the embrace of bougainvillea, it becomes even more charming and perfect for your Instagram photos. Being so popular, you’ll compete with other visitor to take your postcard from Lisbon.
Enriching the allure, the street music is your reason to absorb the cozy vibes even longer.
After the narrow lanes of Alfama relaxing in this miradouro nurtures your soul in the Portuguese allure. There’s even a small cafe above the viewpoint so you’ll not lack a chance fill up your adventure.

Miradouro de Graça
On the way to the Miradouro you’ll see the most wonderful street art in Lisbon just to be rewarded with the awesome views. Even more, exploring the Graca neighbourhood will let you admire the typical tiles in the Convento da Graça. Resting in Jardim da Cerca da Graca is an elegant way to absorb the Lisbon vibes like a local.
Enjoying the view with a lunch at Miradouro’s kiosk means exploring Lisbon in a slow pace. Taking an advantage to relax, you’ll have the best of Lisbon from a new perspective- its views.
The iconic 25 de Abril Bridge doesn’t cease to enchant the visitors of Lisbon.

Miradouro de Nostra Senhora
The highest viewpoint in the Graca neighbourhood is a bit tricky to find. Unfortunately, due to the lack of time, I gave up. With the incredible panoramic charm you’ll have Lisbon at the palm of your hand. The city’s historical landmarks shine up towards the Sao Jorge Castle and even the ruins of the Carmo Cathedral.
In the quiet atmosphere you’ll have the priviledge to enjoy the romantic beauty in Lisbon’s hidden corners.
Castello Sao Jorge
What would be the iconic European city without a castle? Lisbon as a city of seven hills gifted one of those to the wonderful Castello Sao Jorge.
Except the exquisite views of the Tagus river, you’ll enjoy the medieval atmosphere of the castle. Unfortunately, I didn’t visit the castle but it sparks the charm almost everywhere through the city. The view of the 25 de Abril Bridge is unparalleled as you find the best spot for your Lisbon postcard.
Paying the entrance fee of 8€ is the best way to see Lisbon stepping back in time.
Monte Agudo
This charming viewpoint is tiny but bursting with the party vibe. Gathering locals and tourists who enjoy the view from the branches feels immensely relaxing. There’s a small cafe that will accompany your enjoyment. It’s also close to the wonderful hostel I was staying in Lisbon- Sant Jordi.

Monsanto Viewpoint
Monsanto is a large forest stretching above the Belem Tower on the outskirts of Lisbon. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, trekking and playing with your kids. Following the Water trail or the Green trail will let the hiking enthusiasts discover Lisbon beyond the touristic sights.
Though I didn’t catch the official Panoramico de Monsanto, reaching Miradouro Keil do Amaral is a stunning idea also. Nearby you can relax in the small caffe, enjoy the wonderful slice of the „San Francisco Bridge“ or even play basketball.
Monsanto Viewpoint covers 360-degree view of the city where Lisbon shines in all its glory. Enjoying the several events in Lisbon, Monsanto Viewpoint is embraced by the graffiti wall.

Focusing on Lisbon’s viewpoints while discovering the city is a great way to taste its vibe. Though Belem is quite famous, Lisbon will surprise you one step a time. Even if you don’t have any in mind, Miradouro di Santa Luzia will be your perfect picture-postcard from Lisbon.

They’re all beautiful, but I think Miradouro de Santa Luzia would be my favorite! I can’t wait to visit and see for myself!
Love these ideas for viewpoints. One I’d also recommend, though across the river, is the Cristo Rei Statue.

I love Lisbon, such a beautiful, vibrant, cultural and historically rich city. Stunning view points at every turn, where tiles tell stories.
I missed some of the viewpoints last time I visited Lisbon. They all look amazing!
Beautiful views everywhere. I would love to see some of those beautiful Portuguese tiles! It does seem like you need good walking shoes with all those hills.
