Morro de Sao Paulo, Bahia, contributed by myself
If you’re looking for a vibrant place full of attractive Brazilian beaches, look no further than Morro de Sao Paulo. This lovely town on the island Tinhare is a common touristic destination, but still keeps its authentic shine.
You can admire the picturesque scenery from the viewpoint that enters Second Beach, the most popular one. Enjoying the music on the beach or in the surrounding bars is a perfect opportunity to feel Brazilian rhythm. After the swimming and volleyball refresh yourself with fruits and local delicacies like tapioca.
The Fourth Beach will take you in the heavenly charm of turquoise waters. Being 30 minutes walking from central Morro, you can absolutely recharge in its allure.
Morro bursts will lovely shops and restaurants that will make you fall in love with the place. Fantastic views will await you at Farrol do Morro where you can also try the zipline.
How to reach & where to stay
The charming city of Salvador is an ideal point to reach Morro de Sao Paulo, which is 2h away by catamaran. Che Lagarto Hostel is an awesome place to stay if you’re on a budget.
Pousada Bahia Tambor– fascinating pool view to the Second Beach is a reason enough to choose this lovely hotel. Let’s add its coziness, affordable prices, delicious food and rooftop views.
Trancoso, Bahia, contributed by Danae from Danae Explore
It was in Trancoso that the Portuguese explorer Pedro Alvares Cabral landed in 1500 AD to “discover” Brazil. I recommend that you follow in his footsteps: discover the best of Brazil in Trancoso.
On the southern coast of Bahia, Trancoso is one of the most charming beach villages in Brazil. The “Quadrado,” the central square of the town, is surrounded by traditional colonial houses in vibrant colors. Housing today cozy cafes, upscale restaurants, boutique hotels and authentic Brazilian shops, its alluring vibes are irresistible.
Praia dos Nativos and Praia dos Coqueiros are just a few meters from the Quadrado. With calm seas and warm water, they’re perfect for a refreshing swim, with plenty of beachside restaurants serving Bahian cuisine.
Don’t miss Praia do Espelho, repeatedly named one of Brazil’s most stunning beaches. Easily accessible via Google Maps if driving, your accommodation or local tourism agencies can arrange transportation otherwise.
How to reach & where to stay
During my last visit, I stayed at Le Refuge Pousada, offering excellent value and a convenient location near the Quadrado and beach.
For a more luxurious experience, consider Casa La Torre Hotel Boutique, renowned for its elegant rooms, impeccable service, and prime Quadrado location.
Getting to Trancoso is relatively straightforward. The nearest airport is in Porto Seguro, about an hour’s drive away. From there, visitors can easily arrange transportation to Trancoso via taxi, shuttle, or rental car.
Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro, contributed by Alex from Adventure to Every Country
Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil.
It is often overshadowed by its famous neighbour, Copacabana Beach, which is literally around the corner.
Although Ipanema Beach did gain some fame from a song called “The Girl from Ipanema”.
The beach has stunning yellow sand and amazing views of Morro Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers Hill) which rises above the eastern side of the beach.
You can also see the Cagarras Islands if you look straight ahead, into the Atlantic Ocean.
It has incredible weather with temperatures averaging around the early-to-mid twenties all year round. Rain is rare, especially from June until August. Although November-January does bring a higher chance of rainfall.
Ipanema Beach has several vendors trying to flog alcohol to you. Beers are cheap in Brazil with one setting you back around $3 on the beaches here. Caipirinhas are the most popular Brazilian cocktail. They consist of sugar, lime juice and cachaça (a sugarcane-based rum). They cost around $4-5 here.
How to reach & where to stay
The way to get to and from the beach is by Uber. Unfortunately Rio isn’t the safest city in the world and catching buses or street taxis is not advisable. Uber is generally safe and cheap which makes it the ideal way to reach Ipanema. When you’re planning to visit Brazil, consider the safest Latin American countries to visit.
Being in Rio de Janeiro, it is also a great base from which to visit other iconic attractions. These include Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain and the Maracana Stadium.
Accommodation on the beach isn’t the cheapest, with prices starting from around $50-60 per night. Although staying elsewhere in the city and using Uber to get around can save you a lot of money.
If you’re on a budget, I would consider Ipanema Beach Hostel because of its excellent social vibe and free hikes.
Campeche Island, State of Santa Catarina, contributed by Chanelle Rosenbaum from Chasing Chanelle
Located off the coast of Florianópolis in the State of Santa Catarina, Campeche Island (Ilha do Campeche) has one of the best beaches in Brazil. This island paradise is known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, bright white sand, and lush tropical vegetation. Plus, it has some of the calmest waters in the region, making it a fantastic beach for families.
In addition to Campeche Island’s pristine natural beauty, one of its unique features is its rich archaeological significance. The island is home to numerous ancient petroglyphs and rock carvings, some of which date back over 5,000 years!
Once on the island you can enjoy a range of beach activities including swimming, snorkeling, and volleyball. Or, if you prefer to relax, you can simply enjoy the views while sipping on a fresh coconut. There is also a café and restaurant on the beach where you can buy snacks, lunch, and drinks.
How to reach & where to stay
Although Campeche Island is a popular destination, it maintains a sense of seclusion since it’s only accessible by boat. There are three different boat departure points in Florianópolis: Barra da Lagoa, Praia da Armação, and Praia do Campeche. Boats depart every morning throughout the warmer months. Although, spots are limited, so it is recommended to book in advance.
The closest place to stay near Campeche Island is in Florianópolis. Most of the accommodations here are family-run guest houses, such as the charming Pousada Santarina, which is conveniently located between the Praia do Campeche and Barra da Lagoa boat departure points.
Praia da Pipa, Rio Grande do Norte, contributed by Milene from Surf and Unwind
Pipa Beach, or Praia da Pipa, is a charming beach town located on the northeast coast of Brazil. From pretty cobblestone streets to local independent shops, the village invites you to wander around and explore.
But it’s the great outdoors that really makes this place worth a visit. With pristine beaches nestled among dramatic rugged cliffs, Praia da Pipa is a tropical paradise that nature-lovers will enjoy visiting.
You can get plenty of surfing opportunities on Praia do Amor and Cacimbinhas. Or you can go to Baia dos Golfinhos, or Dolphin’s Bay, to spot these lovely creatures in their natural habitat. For wildlife and breathtaking views, make sure to visit the Ecological Sanctuary nearby.
How to reach & where to stay
If you’re flying, the nearest airport is Governador Aluízio Alves in Natal, which is just an hour’s drive away. There are car rentals and ride-sharing services available on-site. Alternatively, you can take a coach or a van from the bus terminal in Natal’s city centre to get to Praia da Pipa.
For accommodation, look no further than Toca da Coruja. This beach-chic, boutique resort is one of the top places to stay in town. Set in lush natural surroundings, Toca da Coruja is a haven of tranquillity right in the heart of Pipa’s village.
Fernando de Noronha, contributed by Ossama Alnuwaiser from At Awesome Traveler
Fernando de Noronha contains some of the most popular sandy beaches in Brazil. It was designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site (check out the UNESCO sites in USA) in 2001 because of its richness in fauna and flora. As matter of fact, it is an important feeding ground for sharks, turtles, tuna and many other marine Mammals. That makes it an ideal ecosystem for many marine life, and a good spot for snorkeling and scuba diving.
There are three main beaches in Fernando de Noronha, which are Cacimba do Padre, Baía dos Porcos, and Praia do Sancho. I would highly recommend visiting the Cacimba do Padre. Being a surfer paradise, it’s common to host many surfing events during the surf season.
How to reach & where to stay
There are two ways to get to the beach by either Guararapes International Airport in Recife or Augusto Severi International Airport in Natal. And then you can take a taxi that will take you directly you the beach.
I would recommend you to stay in Vila Sal Boutique Noronha. It is one of the most luxurious hotels near the beach. It has an outdoor garden, a swimming pool, and a terrace where you can set back and relax. The ambience is perfect for relaxation and leaving all your worries behind.
The hotel is close to many important attractions, such as Vila dos Remedios, Santo Antonio Port, Shark museum, and Santo Antonio Fort Ruins. Therefore, everything you need is close to the hotels from shopping areas to restaurants, and much more.
Baía do Sancho, Fernando de Noronha, contributed by Bradley Williams from Dream Big, Travel Far
Baía do Sancho is not only one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil, but perhaps in all of South America! It’s worth putting on your list if you’re travelling or backpacking in South America. In fact, it ranked first as the world’s best beach on TripAdvisor for multiple years. It’s part of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago and is a secluded cove with pristine sands and dazzling turquoise waters, all hemmed in by lush, tree-lined cliffs.
The best thing to do here is stroll around, lie down, and soak in the natural wonder of this slice of heaven. You may come across little crabs scuttling across the sands. The waters here can be choppy for most of the day. You may be able to go snorkelling early in the morning before 11 am when the waves are typically calmer. Then, make sure to explore the surrounding cliffs that are home to amazing wildlife.
How to reach & where to stay
You can access the beach by boat or a steep ladder that winds through rock splits and tunnels. It’s hard to reach and relatively isolated, so it doesn’t get many crowds. Even today, the beach maintains a tranquil, paradisical atmosphere. It makes for a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of major touristy spots in Brazil. Not to mention that it is located in a protected national park!
For those planning to visit Baía do Sancho, find any accommodation in the Fernando de Noronha area. Check out Pousada Maravilha that will enchant you with its stunning pool views and boho ambiance.

Wow! What a beautiful post! I really enjoyed the pictures! I’m not much of a traveler, so seeing posts like this are fun! I get to live vicariously through the bloggers! lol. I would love to travel sometime though! I have a family member who recently got married and he and his wife have been doing a lot of traveling! I don’t think they’ve been to South America yet, but they’ve been to Mexico! They had a good time! One place in Latin America I want to visit is Costa Rica! I hear it is very beautiful there and the people there are pretty happy!

The beaches in Rio are amazing (and quite crowded). I was lucky enough to be there on New Year’s Eve watching the fireworks. Fortunately, I watched from a ship just off the beach so I didn’t have to deal with the 2 million other spectators.

I was at Ipanema Beach on New Years Eve. Quite crowded and a big change from day to night.
