27.12.2021.
The moment in which I realise that I reached the 3 years blogging left me unprepared. Not because I don’t love blogging or share my passion about it, but the deeper goals went out on surface.
Obstacles
In November my domain was supposed to be erased unless I re-new it, but not only my domain- I have to renew the total service I take on Bluehost. Domain is just a name, Bluehost is one of the most respected service provider which enables you to have your blog in the web sphere at all. Bluehost or similar web providers offer much larger service and security in comparison to the web providers free of charge or with the little cost.
I totally took out of my mind that if I don’t pay it in November my blog will not exist anymore. Originally, I subscribed to the 3 years of Bluehost service. The summ that Bluehost counted that I should pay for the next 3 years was just out of my reach. Even for 1 year, it was pretty tough to realise.
This fact leads to the question what are my goals about blogging- if I spend for it and don’t get out from it some financial compensation. I would love to continue blogging, sharing my experiences, brushing my skills, getting the reactions- but how to continue if I cannot pay for it? For the simple love of blogging??
Dreams
My dream to become digital nomad, travel writer or just a writer- are they falling in the water? How to present yourself with the leading skills even if you don’t have such skills? Definitely, blogging is about learning to show how can we help others, to catch with the tips we can give. Who can be more happier than myself than sharing my knowledge and tips bringing people unto the best path?
The part of that dream is meeting other bloggers that live from blogging or do some other job in the sphere of digital nomads. The fascinating world of virtual jobs opens the doors to the people with vision. But not only a vision, with the perservance to find the time and mode in the proper search to finally realise it. Without expectation.
Back to obstacles
How did I solve the question of paying the relevant summ to the Bluehost?
My first idea was to pay just for one month, but I got the discount for one year. With the little help of my parents.
I put a request to my Facebook and Instagram expressing my concern at the question how will continue my blogging. What is the interest of people seeing my writings? Definitely, it takes money to run a serious blog and people should understand that. But it seems I don’t get any words of concern. Still I go with my passions.
About the goals
I started my blog with my enthusiasm for writing and photography, to bring it to the new level and gain relevant working opportunities. I’m truly grateful for the chance to learn about writing, to express my ideas, to help people find their way at the outdoor activities, best mountaineering ideas and garden & flowers obsessed like me.
Taking a profit from my own blog is not sufficient but step by step I’m receiving requests for paid collaborations. It amazes me that people recognize my work, seeing it to grow organically brings so much smile to my face instead of forcing it.
In the meanwhile I was searching some writing job through Indeed website. I did unpaid internship with Yoair where I could choose my own topic regarding anthropology, travel, history or similar. Subsequent to this, I get a large knowledge which I find pretty valuable. Plus brushing my skills. After few months I got the proposition to continue writing for them with the small pay. It would eventually grow with time. The work is hard and I don’t want to feel underestimated.
Through instagram I realised the collaboration with the Travogram application, which gives the
various itineraries.
Recently, another collaboration opened. It’s about Travel Insurance Master, a platform that helps you choose the best travel insurance according to your needs.
Another reason that keep up my blog adventure is to make a marvellous collection of flowery places, garden art and mountain challenges. The blogging brushes my skills making me more than what I am. I am greatful for this opportunity that I started after taking a Blogging course by Nomadic Matt.
Let’s see where it leads as I catch the world of my dreams. While transferring a message of change to the world, blogging becomes alive helping people to discover new truths, places and inspiration. The world of wisdom opens up new doors and fascinating world of skills. Where photography and writing belongs to me.
All in all
What do you think about blogging? If you’re a blogger, what are your advantages and challenges? How would you solve the eternal question if it is worth to have a blog considering all financial numbers? Let me know in the comments..

One of the challenges for me has always been what goes on behind the scenes. It takes a lot of time and effort to make a blog successful which a lot of people don’t realise when reading a post.

Congratulations on three years!
There’s so much to learn about blogging, the behind the scenes work is something I’d never considered, neither was meeting other bloggers 😂

Congratulations on your third anniversary! I switched to a self-hosted WP blog in 2021 after migrating from Blogger and one of the things that amazed me when I did was the expense of maintaining a blog. I’m glad I made the change but it was an eye opener so I absolutely know what you’re saying. It sounds like you’re starting to generate some income and fulfilling some of your goals now! Good luck in 2022 with this!

First of all, congratulations on your 3rd Blog Anniversary! Blogging can be both fulfilling and challenging. I’ve been blogging for almost 4 years now and there’s still a lot to learn. I’ve invested a lot of time and money on my blog and I’ve got no regrets. I may not be earning that much but I love what I’m doing and blogging makes me happy. So, I guess it’s worth every penny!
I’m glad that you’re starting to reach some of your goals. Wishing you more blogging success in 2022!

Congratulations for keeping it up for the last 3 years! I’m just 1 year in and I definitely relate to the issues you raised with the financial aspects as well as the difficulties of staying consistent with blogging. I find it goes in waves of inspiration followed by slow periods, but I’m hopeful I can just keep at it. Good luck with the coming year!

Hi Gabi! First, congrats on 3 years of blogging! My journey has just begun (I started in November 2021), so I consider you an expert. I have a similar dream to be somewhat of a digital nomad. I also want to help people by sharing my experiences. However, in order to bring in income until I can even consider monetizing my blog I work remotely as an independent contractor. This way I can still create content for my blog without worrying about how I’ll pay this bills. Thank you for sharing your story! Cheri

I am only 2 months into my new blog. When my family and friends ask how it is going, my answer seems to always be that I had no idea how much work was involved. The writing does not take that much of my time. It is everything else that does! I hope at some point to have something to show for the work. Congratulations on 3 years!

I can understand your struggles band I am happy to read that your work on blogging pays off. I did not even realize how I started blogging but I understood soon that involves a lot of money paying if you want to do it effectively. I am in the process of learning every day something new. On March I will have my first year blog anniversary. I love how many things I learn every day and how many wonderful and supportive people I have met online. I hope all your wishes about blogging and writing come true. Keep enjoying the process 🙂

I understand your frustrations with the finances of blogging. It’s expensive to host and have a domain name, and without financial gain from blogging it can be hard to fund. I hope you continue blogging!
